In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, The Merciful.
1. -[endif]->When that which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass,
2. -[endif]->There will be naught that could give the lie to its having come to pass,
3. -[endif]->abasing [some], exalting [others]!
4. -[endif]->When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe]
5. -[endif]->and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards,
6. -[endif]->so that they become as scattered dust ƒ?”
7. -[endif]->[on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds.
8. -[endif]->Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right!
9. -[endif]->And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil!: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil!
10. -[endif]->But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]:
11. -[endif]->they who were [always] drawn close unto Allah!
12. -[endif]->In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] ƒ?”
13. -[endif]->a good many of those of olden times,
14. -[endif]->but [only] a few of later times.
15. -[endif]->[They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness,
16. -[endif]->reclining upon them, facing one another [in love].
17. -[endif]->Immortal youths will wait upon them
18. -[endif]->with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs
19. -[endif]->by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk;
20. -[endif]->and with fruit of any kind that they may choose,
21. -[endif]->and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire.
22. -[endif]->And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye,
23. -[endif]->like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells.
24. -[endif]->[And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life].
25. -[endif]->No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin,
26. -[endif]->but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace.
