Ahadith on Adhan and Salaat

{Complaining against Imam for prolonging pray}
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 672. Narrated Abu Masud: A man came and said, "O Allah’s Apostle! I keep away from the morning prayer because so-and-so (Imam) prolongs it too much." Allah’s Apostle became furious and I had never seen him more furious than he was on that day. The Prophet said, "O people! Some of you make others dislike the prayer, so whoever becomes an Imam he should shorten the prayer, as behind him are the weak, the old and the needy.’‘

{Getting up for prayer during Iqama}

Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 610. Narrated Abdullah bin Abi Qatada: My father said, "Allah’s Apostle said, ‘If the Iqama is pronounced then do not stand for the prayer till you see me (in front of you).’ "

{If Imam does not offer prayers perfectly}
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 663. Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, "If the Imam leads the prayer correctly then he and you will receive the rewards but if he makes a mistake (in the prayer) then you will receive the reward for the prayer and the sin will be his."

{Invocation at the time of Adhan}
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 588. Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: Allah’s Apostle said, "Whoever after listening to the Adhan says, ‘Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-d-da’ watit-tammati was-salatil a’imati, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilata, wab’ athhu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa’ adtahu (O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (of not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established! Kindly give Muhammad the right of intercession and superiority and send him (on the Day of Judgment) to the best and the highest place in Paradise which You promised him)’, then intercession for me will be permitted for him on the Day of Resurrection)."

{Optional prayers between Adhan and Iqama }
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 600. Narrated Abdullah bin Mughaffal: The prophet said, "There is a prayer between the two Adhans (Adhan and Iqama), there is a prayer between the two Adhans." And then while saying it the third time he added, "For the one who wants to (pray)."

{Prolonging the prayer when praying alone}
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 671. Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, "If anyone of you leads the people in the prayer, he should shorten it for amongst them are the weak, the sick and the old; and if anyone among your prays alone then he may prolong (the prayer) as much as he wishes."

{Running for the prayer}
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 609. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "When you hear the Iqama, proceed to offer the prayer with calmness and solemnity and do not make haste. And pray whatever you are able to pray and complete whatever you have missed."

{Sin of raising head before Imam does}
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 660. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Isn’t he who raises his head before the Imam afraid that Allah may transform his head into that of a donkey or his figure (face) into that of a donkey?"

{Superiority of Adhan}
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 582. Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, "When the Adhan is pronounced Satan takes to his heels and passes wind with noise during his flight in order not to hear the Adhan. When the Adhan is completed he comes back and again takes to his heels when the Iqama is pronounced and after its completion he returns again till he whispers into the heart of the person (to divert his attention from his prayer) and makes him remember things which he does not recall to his mind before the prayer and that causes him to forget how much he has prayed."

{The First Row}
Sahih Al- Bukhari, vol 1, number 688. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Martyrs are those who die because of drowning, plague, an abdominal disease, or of being buried alive by a falling building." And then he added, "If the people knew the reward for the Zuhr prayer in its early time, they would race for it. If they knew the reward for the ‘Isha’ and the Fajr prayers in congregation, they would join them even if they had to crawl. If they knew the reward for the first row, they would draw lots for it."

By the time through the ages! Surely mankind is in loss, Except those who believe and do good deeds; Exhort one another to the truth And exhort one another to patience. Surah 103
